Another Rotation Request

And for users that want just the right camera angle, it would be nice to be able to rotate a model about a specified axis, by a certain angle. Also useful if you want to make your own stop-motion videos. But I frequently want to rotate around a given symmetry axis or the axis through a face center, ...

Model Rotation, Camera Angles, Video Export

Rob, I have seen several posts regarding animation in Stella, and exporting videos. What I would like to see is the ability to look from one camera angle while the model rotates around a specified axis. It would be great for interactive mode, and for exports. For example, looking down the 4-fold axi...

The Old-Fashioned Method

Ulrich, It really wasn't a complicated method. I found both models had integer coordinates (I had to multiply the coordinates I had from B.M. Stewart's book by 20 to make them integers). After that, I just made a 3D skeleton using cubes, and faceted out the models using the "top-right" corner of eac...

Stewart Toroids

I have a website with Stewart Toroids and other figures from his book, including Császár and Szilassi. They are at the bottom of the page for Chapter 20.

The hard part was modeling them before you could import OFF files. It took quite some effort. :)

Another possibility for true 3D minefields would be to do various space filling lattices. To start with, you can do the more interesting ones from the 28 uniform ones:

This would give you varying numbers of neighbors for each cell.

I like having both views available. The default view would be low enough to see only the "room" you are in, but when you get a bit lost and want some global info, you can "lift up" to get a view of the neighborhood (or whole side of the polyhedron, depending on how high you go). For more complex pol...

Other New Features I'd like to See

One thing I would like to see is an "Undo" button, where you can take back your last move. It would only be used when you hit a mine, and would cancel your ability to successfully complete the game (no high score recorded), but after putting a few hours into a game, it would be nice to see if I coul...

Chiral Tetrahedral Non Convex

I have another one I would like if you are interested in some symmetric non-convex ones. It is a chiral tetrahedral symmetry one. It is a SRID with four nonconvex figures (similar to J92s) excavated.

Re: Or Another Torus

I would like to see a nice open torus (perhaps a genus 1), where it is easier to see what you are doing. Like taking an Icosidodecahedron (ID), and excavating two triangular hebesphenorotundas (J92) from opposite ends. That's quite a nice model. Probably still a bit hard to see how some of the tile...

Or Another Torus

Or perhaps the L2-L2 section of the "T5 / 12Q5S5(D5)" - which is a TID excavated with 12 J5's and PAPs drilling into a central DOE. The cross-section contains all regular polygons.

Really Close

When I came really close, it was before you could store "camera" positions, and I had a large number of possibilities to try out. I went through all the options, and then discovered there was an unmarked mine somewhere. Once I found that, I repeated the process again, only to find there was still on...

Note that I didn't say that I beat their best times, I just wanted to complete every board I could. Sometimes I am just happy if my best time is less than double the posted best time. :D

Percent of Boards Completed

One of my goals that I set a while back was to complete every Board on every SubDivLevel on every Difficulty Level, if it had been completed by someone who had submitted their high scores. Some of the boards that have never been completed by anyone may be beyond the skill (or at least patience) of a...

Favorite Board/SubDivLevel/DifLevel

Just wondering what everyone else's favorite Board/SubDivLevel/DifLevel is for playing Minesweeper 3D. I really like doing Pentagonal Hexecontahedron / 8 / Expert. It is just easy enough to seem possible, but no-one has completed it yet. I have come quite close a few times, but not close enough. I d...
