Cundy & Rollett

I was browsing through some old posts in this section, when I came across a reference to Mathematical Models by Cundy & Rollet. A little later, I was wasting a few minutes on Amazon, and by coincidence I saw that they now have paperback copies in stock. The book itself is decades old – I still have ...

Re: A few pics

Back near the start of this long-running thread, Rob Adair lamented the fact that the pictures in Magnus Wenninger's book are in black and white. I'd have thought that there are enough posted photos in this newsgroup to cover many of them. Wouldn't it be nice to assemble a pdf of these images (subje...

Another great model, Rob. What's your opinion of "Adventures among the Toroids" ?

Re: Work in progress

Awe-inspiring! What will the radius be? I've seen several of your models in the past, but previously, I've only considered the holes in the faces to be decorative. Having spent a few minutes studying the current image, I see that the holes also permit a better appreciation of the structure of the po...

Re: Constructing models with transparent faces?

Rob, Yes, you are correct - its UHU, not UHO. I just experimented with a piece of plastic which I cut from the box containing the plastics straws. It is that tough, transparent stuff that feels similar to the shrink-wrap plastic that you find on many items these days - difficult to get off unless yo...

Re: Constructing models with transparent faces?

Rob, Funny you should raise this now as I'd been thinking about it the other day. I posted a reply on a different topic recently, on the gluing together plastic drinking straws. If you can get your hand son it (not too literally), try UHO Por; it seems to work well with many materials, but especiall...

You might try contacting hamp856 - he has posted some wonderful wooden models here in the past, and some of them are spheres.

Re: Showing vector angles

I just tried gluing two plastic straws together using UHU Por and it worked very well - a nice strong bond without any melting. I didn't try anything clever, I just glued them side by side with a patch of adhesive about 1 cm long. I think Por is great. I bought it originally to stick together expand...

You select the heptagrammic face, hit: scale->stretch (non-uniform scale)..., enter the desired value (scale by or set value to ...) and "perpendicular to selected face". Ulrich Thanks Ulrich, that did the trick nicely, though I didn't select the "perpendicular..." option. Somehow I thought you mig...

How to Distort Heptogrammic Pyramid

How can I reduce the height of Heptogrammic Pyramid 1 in Stella's database so that the pyramid is much flatter ?

Thanks Rob. I did try that, but I must have screwed it up. I just tried it now and it appears to work.
