At first reading, I thought that this was pretty straightforward to construct. I assumed that there was plenty of leeway in the choice of the equatorial pentagons, but a first quick model has proven me wrong. I'll have to read the details more carefully next time. The maths in the subsequent section...

I think Chapter 24 contains some equations or whatever they are - it keeps on saying it's simple - for the dimensions of the two types of pentagon. I wouldn't have a clue how to use them. I wonder if one way would be to make a couple of seven sided "pyramids" , and to mount them on a pencil or the ...

I may be wrong, but I think that you can start by drawing a pentagon that has similar angles to the 14 pentagons around the equator of the figure. I don't think that you need to be precise, so long as you make it symmetrical. Make 14 of these and arrange them into a ring. The remaining pentagons tha...

Its working now !

After I ended Stella, I had one of those "This program might not have installed properly" dialogs (I'm using windows 7 64 bit). I selected the "oh go away and mind your own business" option (well, something like that ) and now my world is colourful once more.

### Special Colour Arrangement in v5

I may be having a "duhu moment", but I'm not able to use the special colour arrangements. After installing the latest release, I displayed an icosahedron and selected one of the 5-colour arrangements, but all of the faces remained the same - using the default, single colour.

### Gilson: Polyhedra - A New Approach

Noticed a new book on Amazon the other day, so dipped into my piggy bank. Its by Bruce R. Gilson and the "new approach" is to consider polyhedra from the perspective of axial symmetry. It only arrived a couple of hours ago, so I can't provide a review yet, but I thought I'd let you all know there wa...

You might take a look at WinGeom from peanut software, if you haven't already done so http://math.exeter.edu/rparris/wingeom.html

I'd recommend that you work through some of the tutorials as that's the best way to get to grips with the program.

Kathy, Thanks, that's a lot clearer. I see you've threaded each of the cells for added strength; what did you use - wire ? was it very fiddly ? I'm thinking of doing another vertex-connected model that might benefit from a similar approach. I did experiment using some linen thread on my previous edg...

Nice. Unuusal, too. Any chance of some close-up shots of the individual cells (I can't quite make them out) ?

Hmm, stick to table-tennis in future.

That's a nice collection you have on display there.
