Re: Opening tour, Stella closes

Is it all tours, or just one particular tour? Sounds like just one. Tours contain references to other .stel files, so I'd check that those files still exist and haven't been renamed. It still shouldn't crash of course, but worth checking. Send me the .tour file and any .stel files it refers to (if y...

Re: math/latex symbols

You're right, it's not working for some reason. Don't know why but I'll put it on my to-do list.

The font does appear in the list for me, but you can't read the name because it's written in the font, so it's made of math symbols.

Re: math/latex symbols

Here's one I found, for example.

https://www.wfonts.com/font/math-symbol

But you'd have trouble arranging LaTeX-style equations which are arranged more in 2D than left-to-right.

Re: math/latex symbols

Just to reply here as well, you may be able to do it already because you can choose different fonts. It does limit which characters it renders from the font, but if there's a font with math symbols in place of standard ASCII characters it could be done that way.

You might actually be able to do it already, because you can choose different fonts. If there's a font that has math symbols, you could access them that way.

Re: Is there a way to label elements with math/laex symbols?

You can't use any math symbols aside from standard ASCII. But the text can handle some simple HTML markup, which can be used to change colour, bold, italics, and change the resolution used to make text clearer when zoomed in. The details are here: https://www.software3d.com/StellaManual.php?prod=ste...

I found a fix, but it won't be available until the next major release, which will be a while

Re: BUG: excavating a cuboctahedron with an octahedron locks up the net algorithm

You're right, I can replicate it. Happens when only excavating a single octahedron. By the way, if you turn off tabs it works, so it's an issue when creating tabs. Weird because this has been tested against so many cases. I'll try to figure out what's happening.

Re: Cricut paper cutting machine

Unfortunately it won't be any time soon, as I have some work to get Stella back to a releasable state, and have been working on other things too. But next major release will definitely have ability to export nets to SVG. I already have this working. I have a Cricut Explore Air, which can hold two to...

Re: Printing tiled poster

It reports printing larger than the page as an error so that the user knows to split the net up into smaller pieces or use larger paper. You can't disable that I'm afraid. Can you tell it you're printing to larger paper somehow. Maybe use a virtual printer that sends output to PDF and tell it to use...

Re: Extra parts for the compound of five squares

Change this setting. Because the edges coincide with another edge behind them, it is splitting the nets so that there will be tabs behind to attach internally for extra support.

Re: why stella4d doesn't show the convexity of a polychoron in the info bar?

I'll take this as a feature request. But why always ask why? The answer is usually the same: because it hasn't been implemented. There will always be things implemented in 3D that aren't also implemented in 4D (stellation, faceting etc). I could remove all those things from 3D to make it consistent,...

Re: Extra parts for the compound of five squares

Squares are flat. Do you mean the compound of 5 cubes? https://www.software3d.com/5Cube.php I think you are asking about the extra white parts I used to add strength inside, and help to get the last part in, as seen in image below, with description "For added strength, and keeping in mind how I will...

Well done Ulrich, if you found a work-around. Here's a screenshot showing the steps, after right-clicking on desktop and selecting "NVIDIA Control Panel".
