Re: Most complex model

Just do it like this:

Code: Select all

And use the preview to make sure it's working (but don't forget to submit as well after that!).

I bet you only posted this so it would hook me in! ;) I wouldn't say "only" :D I am new to this forum, so I hope I am not repeating stuff the rest of you already know. The forum's for anyone and everyone, so don't worry about repeating anything people might already know. Like the snub cube (and all...

Faceted snub cube

I just discovered an interesting little faceting of the snub cube. Has anyone seen it before? It's interesting because it has just one face-type, an irregular pentagon no less, and it a true polyhedron, not a compound. The only other isohedral facetings (ie having just one face type) appear to be co...

What's the most complex model you've ever made?

What's the most complex model you've ever made :?: As for me, the model with the most parts was Miller's Monster (click for more photos) http://www.software3d.com/JPeg/Miller.jpg It has 1280 external face parts, with nets being printed by Stella onto 42 A4 pages. The model has a diameter of just ove...

Off-forum comments about Great Stella

I already have a quotes page, containing comments I've received which I have reproduced there with permission. To get the ball rolling on this forum, I'll quote from the quotes page  Here are some comments about Great Stella (which could equally well apply to Stella4D) Fr. Magnus Wenninger (au...

Off-forum comments about Stella4D

I already have a quotes page, containing comments I've received which I have reproduced there with permission. To get the ball rolling on this forum, I'll quote from the quotes page  Here are some of George Olshevsky's comments about Stella4D: "Let me tell you, it's a blast. Nobody who's inter...

Re: More on hecatonicosachoric aggrandizements

Unfortunately, Stella4D gets lost when I try to construct the vertex/cell-regular compounds of ten great stellated hecatonicosachora {5/2,3,5} and ten grand hecatonicosachora {5,3,5/2} from their vertex figures. What are the vertex figures for those (and respective face choice)? I'll have a look at...

Yeah, when I wrote it I used what I thought was a function that got the hard drive serial number. But yes, apparently the number it returns changes if you reinstall Windows. Turns out to be MUCH harder to find the true hard drive serial. I have some code now to do it in most cases, but I'm unaware o...

Minesweeper: the movie!

They've made movies of most computer games, and now at last, minesweeper the movie!

Let's hope the sequel is MineSweeper3D the movie!

Hey, you got that up and running pretty quick. I like how the spheres and rods disappear altogether when the sphere has no neighbouring mines. I think I've seen that in other tight-packed cube-tile games, but some reason hadn't thought of it for the ball-and-rod concept. Most comments I can think of...

Re: Five hexacosichora

I don't see any "edit your post" buttons. :? For me, there are "edit" buttons next to the "quote" button in the top right corner of each post. As admin I see these on every post, but I thought other users would still be able to see these on their own posts, provided they are logged in. Is this not ...

I agree sometimes it would be handy for Stella to figure out how big the tabs can be to still fit inside the model without conflict. Usually I just start bigger with the first net of a given type, and shave it down as required. Then I know for the next net, so it's not much of a problem. And good ti...

Here's a thought regarding your colour-blindness (which I just thought of, but is possibly common practice among those in the know!). You could look through coloured cellophane or similar to distinguish some colours. Eg look through something red and transparent and green paper will get dark while r...

Re: mine sweep TRUE 3D

Yes, it's 2D tiles wrapped around 3D shapes. When I had the idea I did a search and found quite a few true 3D versions out there, but none like the one I wanted to make. I tried some of the ones with true 3D tiles, but just found them too confusing and difficult to play. A cube has 26 neighbouring c...

Oops! The color-coding was backward. I have put the corrected color-coded figure into the quote above. Sorry about that. Just for your info, you can edit your old posts to correct errors. Also, images are not uploaded to the forum, but referenced indirectly using the link you used. If you ch...
