Re: How do I modify a solid?

...Then stellate it using the stellation diagram (which is very wide because there's no symmetry and the stellachunks are handled one at a time). Twelve of the rectangles in the second row of the diagram correspond to stellachunks that lie on top of the pentagonal faces. You are referring to the ce...

Another idea would be to make a 'duplicate object by rotation about the center' feature - for example: Lets say you wanted to make a compound of 5 icoes - start with ico (vertex centered), (rotate xy 36 degrees rotate zw 36 degrees) duplicate ico, (rotate xy and zw another 36 degrees) duplicate ico...

One thing that might not be too difficult to implement would be an option for the "ADD/BLEND from Memory" feature: Allow the user to select a vertex in the target polytope (3D or 4D) and in the memorized polytope, and when the ADD operation is done, the memorized polytope is placed so that its sele...

Squeaky wrote:I wonder .... do you still have copies of your drawings for the net for the four tetrahedra?

Would you share them with the rest of the forum?

I would love to make this model some time in the future.
I'm sure the model can be made with Stella. I'll have a think about it and get back to you.

It's the same size as the image was on your computer to start with. Do you have software for resizing images first?

If you copy the text required from photobucket, you don't need to also click the Img button (it already includes the [IMG] tags).

Images must already be uploaded elsewhere first, then you include them here by using a link to them.

I suggest you create an account at http://photobucket.com
Then you can upload all the images you want, and it tells you what text you need to include in forums like this to reference them.

FIXED!

Somehow a single line of code had been deleted introducing this bug!

Download the fixed version 2.4.2 here:

Oops, maybe this is more what you're after: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd237/RobertCWebb/Base3.gif This is easily achieved once you've got a model of the cap on it's own in Stella. Just select the large base, use "Poly->Augment Polyhedron" (or hit "a"), choose to augment using a prism. You c...

Hmm, on that board I can reproduce it! Weird, barely anything changed between 2.4 and 2.4.1 other than updating the web links. But maybe something else snuck in.

I'll look into it and get back to you. Watch this space.

Thanks,
Rob.

The little hut/house thing? Hmm, might disappear if I ever get around to figuring out how to customise the forum

Wax polyhedra!

I've mostly stuck to paper polyhedra, but I did once try my hand at polyhedral candles, made from wax. Here's one I made: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd237/RobertCWebb/CandleDod.jpg And here it is still in the mold: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd237/RobertCWebb/CandleDodMold.jpg The id...

Looks great! Yeah, send me the .stel files. I'd like to watch the cross-sections animating if nothing else! :D Might even add some to the standard library. I could at least upload a collection to this site so everyone can access them. I expect the two .stel files that should act the same act differe...

Here's my first attempt: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd237/RobertCWebb/Base.gif I used faceting mode to create a separate cupola (the cap above the red line), then augmented one of these to another at the top pentagon, then used faceting mode again to create the convex hull of this but with a...
