Re: Selecting issue
I just tried again here, but can't reproduce it. It's very hard to track down at my end unless I have a way to replicate it. Also means it's probably related to the device you're on. So I'm afraid there's probably not much I can do. I don't suppose it makes a difference which Shift key you use? Gras...

Re: Calculating duals
Hmm, maybe, although that would still be wrong in the simple case of J2. It would lead to a centre outside the polyhedron, and not the point that would lead to a self-dual, so it might be kind of odd. This centre is also used as the centre of rotation, by the way, so the J2 would look odd rotating a...

Re: Calculating duals
Duals are computed using spherical reciprocation. But this requires choosing a centre of reciprocation. For polytopes with a centre of symmetry there's an obvious choice, eg in 3D anything with dihedral, tetrahedral, octahedral or icosahedral symmetry, but not pyramidal symmetry, which has an axis o...

Re: Selecting issue
Is it selecting the same type of element, eg click on a vertex but it selects a different vertex? Or could it select a face for example? Does it happen on all polyhedra? Or only complex ones? Are you saying it only happens in Faceting mode and Measurement mode? Or is it any time you select a vertex,...

Re: Selecting issue
Is it higher DPI? If so it might be that you need to be closer to the point now for the selection to work, ie same distance in pixels but smaller pixels. I can't remember off-hand if that's how it works, or whether it takes DPI into account, but that could be it. Otherwise, not sure. When you say it...

Re: Screen recording would be so amazing
Thanks!
Yeah I'd like to be able to create videos, but it's not easy to do so I haven't got around to it.
There may be third party apps that can record the screen?
I haven't got a Chromebook. From what I read they can run Android apps so presumably it would work.

Re: What is the maximum resolution this app supports?
You mean input limit or output limit?
I didn't set any input limits so it's just up to whether your phone can handle it.
For output the settings give a choice of either screen size or double screen size.

Re: Errors with making regular-faced polyhedron
No, 0.5 is the same as 0.5000000000000000. But if it's not all trailing zeroes, then you want to include as many as possible.

Re: Errors with making regular-faced polyhedron
You would have to send me some of your OFF files for me to see what's happening with them. For OFF files to load properly they need two things: Two faces meeting perfectly at each edge Double-precision accuracy, ie go for 14 decimal places or so in the OFF file The Try-to-make-regular feature isn't ...

Re: New Feature: 3D Printing App?
Probably safer to presume I won't be adding such a feature within the next year. I've thought about it before though to help with what I call topological models, which are otherwise tricky to make, eg https://www.software3d.com/HollowSSD.php But it's not something I have any immediate plans to look ...

You're probably best just posting images and videos here in the forum as you did already. Maybe just keep posting to this thread.

Re: Orientation of Torus arm segments
Hi, and welcome to Stella! At the moment, you're right, there's no way to decide the angle of the cross-section around the torus. One way you could make that shape though would be as follows: 1. Create torus with 6 segments around the arm rather than 3 2. Use faceting mode to create the faces you ne...

Re: New Feature: 3D Printing App?
3D printers require a solid enclosed volume. Looks like you're hiding some faces but not others, so the parts are infinitely thin. It would not be easy to thicken these surfaces in Stella. I don't know whether another app provides a way to do that. Might be a good option for the future, but sorry, I...

Re: New Feature: 3D Printing App?
From Stella's menu you can export a 3D model as .STL and some other formats. .STL is the standard for 3D printing. "File->3D Export->Export STL" You may want to try doing this with a Stellation view selected rather than the base view. This will only export the visible parts, and not all the hidden i...
