Delicate Flower or Triffid ?
Here is an image of the 4th stellation of the icoshedron that I finished yesterday. It looks pretty simple - after all it is only a stick model of the docecahedron - but it is a realy **** to put together. http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m629/polypete/Polyhedra/IMGP0507.jpg The difficulty stems ...

James, I've never really paid them much attention, but having read your post, I thought I'd take a look with Stella (it great for just playing around, isn't it ?) and I can see the attraction. I'd never heared of Polydron before (see what a sheltered life I lead ?), so I took a look at their website...

Great ditrigonal dodecicosidodecahedron
After much ado about nothing, I decided to abandon my previous attempt at MW 81 and start from scratch. This time I used a combination of standard and pastel colours (for the triangular faces). I also changed to Canford card; its expensive, but the colours are lovely and I was able to use two weight...

I'm having 2nd (actually about 22nd) thoughts about this one, having made several mistakes: - Not fully understanding the colour scheme. MW suggests 6 & 5 colours (i.e 5+1 and the same five). Previously, used this for the small ditrigonal icosidodecahedron (MW81) and it works reasonably well, so I t...

You idiot ! It is obvious ! Ah well, I see it now: the 5-colour arrangement for the triangular faces, just as MW said. The decagons have their own set of (six) colours. Fool. Anyway, I found a way to map the colours: create a series of images in photoshop, consisting of the same digit or letter repe...

Help with Colours
I'm trying to work out the colour scheme (map) for the great ditrigonal dodecicosidodecahedron (MW 81). I tried viewing the model in Stella after selecting the colour scheme that matches the one used in Wenninger's book, and noting positions as the model is rotated, but I'm red-green colour-blind an...

I finished the final Isohedron today... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n174/oxenholme/twoisohedra.jpg The one on the left has octahedral symmetry. The one on the right has cubic symmetry A very polished result ! I've been experimenting with different types of card recently, so my final output h...

:D I don't think I will build this one again, except perhaps to keep a version for myself anyway... In this thread: http://software3d.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?p=242#242 There is a link to a zip file containing all compounds. This one should be included as 30A.A5xI.C2xI.mu7.off For a compound...

The parameter values are shown by each line drawing. They fit in the formulae in the appendix... I used spreadsheets to do the calculations. Sadly my computer died a week ago so I will have to redo them... Thanks for the link, but I was unable to access the post, even after registering. However, fo...

I took a look at the paper, but didn't get very far. I couldn't see a definition of the parameters a, b and c. Perhaps these are widely understood in the context - not by me, alas. Have you considerd cheating ? I don't know how successful this would be, but you could try printing the faces at a suit...
