Octahedron plus Dodecahedron

For general discussion of polyhedra, not necessarily Stella-specific.

Octahedron plus Dodecahedron

Post by oxenholme » Sat Dec 26, 2009 6:41 pm

I spotted this among the compounds in Stella and had to make it. I tried using a multicolour octahedron and a plain grey dodecahedron. It looks super in the flesh and a bit ordinary in the pictures.

I have yet to get a printer, so I had to work out the net for myself...

Very pretty! Now, of course, you have to make the cube+icosahedron model to go with it. I once had the idea of making all 10 possible combinations of platonic solid compounds, but only got around to the dual ones. Maybe a compound of all 5 would look nice.
It's always darkest just before it goes pitch black.
