Constructing a shape as near to a sphere as possible

Hi,

I wish to construct a shape from different coloured hardwoods that is as near to a sphere as possible
I have a CNC machine
Any ideas

It's not about using wood, but could be helpful.

You can also go to the unfolded net view or the 3D folding net view and use "Net->Show Edge Data->Dihedral Angles" or "Mitre Angles" to display these angles on the model. You could then use these to know what angle to cut the edges of each piece.

You might try contacting hamp856 - he has posted some wonderful wooden models here in the past, and some of them are spheres.
