Construction de mes polyèdres en bois

Post by rgagneux » Sat Apr 28, 2012 6:36 pm

Bonjour,

kickin' ass :D

Could you please tell me how did you obtain that model in Stella?

Bonjour,
http://homepage.mac.com/dmccooey/polyhe ... edron.html
Roland

Hello,
for now, I have not yet bought Stella, I had the calculations on the site of David I. McCooey
[url] http://homepage.mac.com/dmccooey/polyhe ... edron.html [/ url]
I'm not an expert mathematical polyhedra, but with the calculations, I can make out of wood. I saw on the trial version of stella, that there were great opportunities to build a beautiful polyhedra. I am looking forward to this software.
You can resume the sketch on the PDF file, with a diameter of 600 mm.
good evening
Roland

The model in your avatar is rather easy to create in Stella.

Start with a truncated icosidodecahedron, then change one of the views to the "Morph Duals by Augmentation" view-type. Go to 50% through the morph (which is the default, or hit Ctrl+Right-click otherwise), and there it is!

Use the left-and-down in the top right corner of that view to make this the new base model, and then you can create nets and stellations etc.

Bonjour,

Hello,
OK Robert, it's beautiful.

Some details of assembling the faces of the polyhedron. Do not stick to the sides as and because small errors accumulate very quickly and it becomes impossible to continue. The solution as in the photo of the url of the first message, is to assemble everything with scotch tape and then stick capillary with glue glue.
Namely, my woods are cut with CNC, but fitted with a disc sander to 600 mm where I can tilt the table to the desired angle.
cordially

What kind of translator ignores ne ... pas ?

I don't use CNC either ;)

Roland

If I stick to the sides as and assembly, small errors accumulate very quickly, and the shifts become important so it is important to do all the editing of the polyhedron with tape. I forgot to say that I finish tightening with plastic notched collars (collar Colson)

All apex angles and dihedral angles are made on this sander (at the bottom of the workshop) and by tilting the table with templates.
good evening
