question about alternation

Post by perrin » Sun Oct 18, 2009 7:21 pm

[Hi, my 2nd Grade nephew Milo has some more advanced questions - thanks- Perrin]

How do I alternate polyhedra?

Also, are you going to make a stella5D?

I'm not sure what you mean by "alternate". What is it you want to do exactly? Can you give an example?

Stella5D - unlikely. There's still plenty for me to do in 3D and 4D!

Milo's clarified question

[My Nephew Milo's question, thanks, -- Perrin]

What I mean by "alternate' is to facet the vertex figure of a polyhedron. If it has blank spots fill them in. If it is a compound delete all other sections (cells) until there is one cell left."

Seems there is a wikipedia page on it.

It only applies to certain types of polyhedra (ones where each face has an even number of sides). But more generally, you just want to create a faceting of an existing polyhedron. You can do that with faceting mode.

See the manual and read the Faceting Mode section and the following Faceting section.

If you just one to delete all but one part of a compound, simply select a face of the part you want to keep (Shift+Left-click) and select "Poly->Keep One Part of Compound".
