Re: Running on Wine

All I can do is google the terms and see what comes up (I don't have wine).

Found someone report this:
0160:fixme:winspool:StartPagePrinter (00000001): stub
saying it happened in Wine 8.8 and was fixed in 8.10

Number at the start's a bit different, but not sure what the number means.

But also ...

Re: Running on Wine

I found an answer for this with regard to another piece of software, which said:
You forgot to install 32-bit OpenGL libraries (Nvidia installer asks you to install them or not).
Does that help? If you search ChoosePixelFormat and wine you may find other answers too.

Re: Update the 4D libraries to reorganize and add new uniform polychora, plus demonstrations on polychora symmetries

Hi, I will try to get a new version of Stella out this year, hopefully sooner rather than later. It's been in limbo for a while, for various reasons. Partly because I've worked on other things (like music ), but I have worked on Stella too.

The last release was over 10 years ago now! It was built ...

Re: Updated forum!

Thanks for letting me know. It's definitely running faster now, but I don't know if that's just because it got kind of rebooted. I'll see if it gets worse again over time.

Re: Updated forum!

I've updated the site from PHP 5.4 to PHP 7.4, and the forums from phpBB 3.2.2 to phpBB 3.3.14. Required quite a bit of work. Been on my to-do list for years! The site's been running slow lately and sometimes giving 503 errors, so hoping this might help.

I think everything is working again, but let ...

Re: Dual polyhedron name

As far as I know, the duals of the Johnson solids don't generally have names.

And if they have pyramidal symmetry or less, then the precise geometry of the dual would be somewhat ambiguous too, since there's no obvious centre for spherical reciprocation (not that that means they couldn't still have ...

Re: Faceting II

You could try e3xploding the faces apart so you can see inside. Use Ctrl+Shift+Left drag for that, and Ctrl+Shift+Right-click anywhere to snap them back together. You could also hide faces that are in the way. But also you'll need to make sure you start with a model where the faces really do ...

Re: 4OFF debug information

Sorry for slow reply. Feel free to send me another OFF file if you want. But Stella works best with polytopes. In 3D it expects exactly 2 faces to meet at each edge, whereas a 3D lattice may have any number of faces meeting at an edge. A lattice doesn't generally have a surface as such, depending ...

Re: Nets of large polyhedra

Hi, first you're probably after Great Stella or Stella4D. There isn't one called Stella3D.

Great Stella has various ways to create zonohedra, so yes you can create that one with 870 faces.

Goldberg polyhedra are duals of geodesic spheres. Stella can create duals, but it can only directly create ...

Re: 4OFF debug information

Hi, yep just emailing is the way.

Had a look at your file. First, when specifying the cell, you still need to include the number of edges on the second line, which can be zero because it's ignored, but since 4OFF expands on the original OFF format, the edge-count still has to be there. So first two ...

Re: 4OFF debug information

Hi, nope I'm afraid Stella won't give any further details. This error is happening when it's trying to group the faces into cells. You can optionally specify the cells too in the 4OFF which may help if there's any ambiguity.

Looking at the code, the error is given if either of two conditions fails ...

Re: i need help

It always shows nets of the base model or its dual. The Morph By Truncation view is showing a kind of preview. To convert what you see to become the new base model hit the left-and-down arrow button in the top right corner of the view you want to convert. Then you'll see the nets you want.

Re: Faceting Help

Hi David,

To be honest, I'm far less likely to find time to put a video together. And if I made a video about the original shape you asked about, it still might not help you with other shapes like the new one you mentioned.

Were you able to make the original shape?

There's no specific answer for ...

Re: Selecting Issue

Even better: you can select an entity type in the Info panel to select the first entity of that type in the main window. You need to hit the "+" next to the line about number of cells, faces, edges or vertices, and then select one of the types underneath. No need for Ctrl+F.

This will work as long ...
