In the case of the coplanar pairs of faces of my five-octahedra-compound I always chose one "dominating" face, which defines the colour of the common area. In my Small Snub Icosicosidodecahedron, the common areas of the overlapping triangles are coloured red, while the outer parts are yellow resp. b...

These are lovely. I wish I had your eye for colour.

Peter,

thanks! But it is stella that does the colouring automatically.

Nice idea! With less symmetric shapes it can be extended to any complexity. But that would call for an electronic version.

I would need six colours for the pentagrams and pentagons, another ten colours for the icosahedral triangles. Would I get away with the standard five colours for the snub triangles (as if they were a hexecontahedron), or would the intersecting faces prevent that from working? Using the system descr...

Yes, this is exactly what I did, and even colouring only the 20 faces is a pain if you want to use just 5 colours. So I wished to have all this done automatically. But when I proceeded to the nonconvex snub ones, I saw that things there are different and more complicated. So I'll be happy to do the ...

undesired logout

Robert It happened already several times that I just had typed in a longer text, and when I hit "preview", I was asked to log in again, and everything was lost! Is this a question of the properties of my own machine or is it the forum website or is there a trick other than copying everything before ...

This is how to colour a chiral polyhedron with intersecting faces, using only a few colours, where no two faces wearing the same colour, intersect. The 60 triangles of the W 114, the Inverted Snub Dodecadodecahedron can be arranged in pairs of two, sharing one common edge. The colours of these pairs...

A Moebius-style one is possible too: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/mobf.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/mobm.jpg I made these by augmentation of 24- resp. 36-fold or 72-fold prisms by themselves and by compounds of these and 4-fold prisms. I got twis...

How to make a compound of five rhombihexecontahedra

This is how a compound of 5 rhombihexecontahedra (RH) can be created: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/rh_hex_5.jpg The RH is made of 60 rhombs with an acute angle of 63.4349 degrees. To build it, it is suitable to create a rhombihexahedron first. You can cut off a 3-sided pyram...

You load a tetrahedron and augment it with pyramids by hitting the "a"-key, chosing "augment by pyramids" and clicking "ok". The pyramids are indicated by spotted lines. Now you hit the ctrl-key and the left mouse key and pull the mouse to the right which increases the height of the pyramids to make...

...you might need to give me a step-by-step tutorial. No, you actually do need to give me that tutorial You choose the model you want to construct and you should show the vertices and edges, see http://www.software3d.com/StellaManual.php?prod=stella4D#showVE . Then you scale it to a radius of 10 (s...
