make stella4d open source

Post by H A M »

benefits of making stella4d free and open source:
  • anyone can use, copy, modify, and distribute stella4d
  • anyone can contribute to stella4d, speeding up development
  • developing stella4d costs less or even free
If Robert Webb refuses to make Stella4D open source, the Free Software Foundation will sue Webb to Utter Oblivion to make Stella4D open source!!!

Utter Oblivion is a large number that the definition can be found here: http://www.polytope.net/hedrondude/oblivion.htm

use a donation system instead of buying stella4d (source code not included) for $999...999 with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 999...999 9's with 9 9's with

Your requests mostly come across more as demands or even threats (what's this nonsense about being sued?). This only motivates me more to NOT do what you're demanding I do. Spamming the same demand multiple times doesn't help and only wastes my time.

I worked on Stella for many years. At one point I took three years off work and just worked on my own projects. Stella4D was created during that time. I lost money during that time. Income from Stella is nowhere near enough to live on, and will never pay for all the time I've put in, BUT getting something back does at least partly justify the time I've spent. Without that, Stella wouldn't exist.

Stella is not expensive. It does not cost $999...999 etc. Sometimes I get feedback from people saying they don't know how I can charge so little for it. Elsewhere people just complain endlessly about how expensive it is and how "greedy" I am, presumably for wanting to be at least underpaid for my time? Stella is a large complex program for a very niche market. It's cheap for what it is.

I'll delete your more recent post (which was just spamming a link to this post). If you keep spamming the forum or me personally, I'll consider deleting your account. I don't have time to waste on this.

Regarding large numbers, I think you'll find Graham's number and my personal favourite TREE(3) will easily dwarf your 999...999 thing :)

IMHO everyone who isn‘t happy with Stella4D as it is is warmly invited to write his/her own program that has all desired features.

the "large number garden number" is much larger than TREE(TREE(TREE(...TREE(TREE(TREE(99)))...))) with 99 TREE's

You thought people work for free?

Donations might work for a product with very wide appeal. Small percentage of people using it would donate a small amount, so only works with huge audience. Stella has an extremely niche market appeal. And it's not expensive. I've certainly paid more for other software with much wider appeal.

Also, you're still making demands rather than asking, which doesn't help.

I think I've spent enough time responding to this, and it's not what this forum is here for. I'll delete any further discussion on this topic from you.
