Re: Help Please! How do I do this...

Mitch, this is another way to get to it, perhaps a little bit faster: You first construct a base model, starting from a 10-fold prism and using the augmentation techniques Robert described: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/mitch_vand_base_zpse1ca1b95.jpg Then you put the trapezo...

Looks great, especially with the colouring of the pentagons.

You load the Rhombicuboctahedron and click on the fifth icon from the right in the last row (onmouseover you see "Morph Duals by Expansion"). Then you keep the ctrl-button pressed, click the left mouse button and pull the mouse to the right. Rectangles appear between the base model's faces and in th...

You can morph the rhombicuboctahedron to its dual by expansion up to say 20 %, save it to the memory and retrieve it again. Then you do the augmentation of the squares and the triangles: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/Augmented_Rhombicuboctahedron_Dual_Morph_20_zpsef7d95ba.jpg...

Re: Hello again, Ulrich!

it seems to line up 4 points on a straight line which is a single axis when viewed from above. That is correct. If you hit "s" in stella 4D, you can see the rotation axes. There are 4 3-fold ones in the compound of two tetrahedra. could you tell me if that is correct in the tet2_2k2.gif -- that the...

Re: Faceted Snub Cube

Thanks!

This is a picture of my model of the dual of the other one, derived from the snub dodecahedron:

It is made of one kind of crossed hexagons

I made a similar model where the top vertices of the pentagrammic pyramids are pointing towards the center:

I glued the model with UHU hart, no threads were needed.

This is my model of Robert's facetted snub cube:

I call it "24 scalars".

Very nice model! It reminds me of a lamp Hans Schepker built, see:

If the lateral pentagons are regular and their edge length is 1, Stella tells me that the other edge length is 4.69217462142686, the acute angle is 29.8878°: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh82/Heinzzweidrei/gilson_penta.jpg metric data: 28 facelets, of 2 types; 70 edgelets; 44 vertices, of 4 ty...

I had a professional laser cutting service cut one of my patterns from rather thick paper (150 g/m²) and the result was really great! Very neat cutting of rather complicated star patterns, and the folding edges scored.
